Privacy
Last updated 13 October 2026. We collect as little as we can, and we never sell it.
What we store
- Your account: username, email address, a securely hashed password (we can't read it), an optional bio and profile picture, and when you joined and last signed in.
- What you post: strings, descriptions, screenshots, comments, likes, saves and reports.
- Security data: to stop spam and brute-force attacks we keep short-lived counters keyed by a one-way hash of your IP address. Our web host also keeps standard server logs.
Cookies
The site needs a few cookies to work: a session cookie to keep you signed in, an optional 30-day “keep me signed in” cookie, a cookie that remembers your light/dark theme, and one that remembers your cookie choice. We never use advertising cookies.
Analytics
With your permission, we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and strings people find useful, for example how often strings are copied, liked or saved. It only loads if you press Accept on the cookie banner. If you decline, or never choose, Google's script isn't loaded and no analytics cookies are set. Advertising and personalisation features are switched off, and Google's cookies stay on this site only. Google processes this data under its privacy policy.
You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings in the footer. Declining afterwards deletes the analytics cookies.
We email you only about your account: confirming your address and resetting your password. Your email address is never shown publicly or shared.
What others can see
Your username, profile picture, bio, the strings you share, your comments and your public stats. Your saved strings, email address and reports are private.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account at any time from account settings. That removes your account, strings and screenshots, and anonymises your comments. For anything else, email support@elfy.au.
